Job Description:
The Alamance County YMCA is seeking a passionate, energetic and
innovative Aquatics Director to lead our Aquatics team. Job
Description Under the direct supervision of the COO, the Aquatics
Director is responsible for the overall programming and staffng of
the indoor and outdoor pools of the Alamance County YMCA. The
Aquatics Director is responsible for creating a welcoming, safe,
highly engaging, and highly developmentnal program space. They will
create an inclusive culture that seves both members and
participants as they look to grow confidence and skill, all while
fostering an exceptional feel of community at the pools. They will
be responsible for managing such functions in accordance with the
stated mission and policies established by the administrative
staff, governing committees and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
Qualifications Bachelors degree in related field preferred and/ 4-5
years of related experience Experienced and passionate about
creating and fostering communities and relationship building
through programs Possess a high level of initiative and superior
communication skills and presence to effectively manage the staff,
programs and schedule of the department Exceiptional oral, public
speaking and written communication skills Ability to attract, lead,
motivate and retain quality staff Ability to work in collaboration
with community partners Proven track record in developing new
programs as well as reviewing and enhancing existting programs that
are both fiscally viable and effective Ability to relate
effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and
economic segments of the community Essential Functions Creates an
increditle, inclusive environment for members and participants in
all aspects of the Aquatics Department Models relationship-building
skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative
relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular,
clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
Leads an innovative and welcoming swim lesson program and specialty
programming, effectively serving children and adults at all skill
levels. Oversees and supports the daily operations of the YBAC
Competitive Swim porogram Recruits and hires staff and volunteer
teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and
develops them for success. Ensures that all Aquatics staff are up
to date at all times on all certifications necessary for their job
Schedules, trains and manages staff for all aquatic programs.
Ensures timesheets are correct and processed for payroll in a
timely manner. Oversees daily pool operations to adhere to all
state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts
and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Maintains accurate records
of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Ensures
compliance with YUSA and Association Program Guidelines. Conducts
regular rescue ready audits as part of ongoing risk management.
Builds, oversees and administers the aquatics budget to ensure
fiscal responsibility for the aquatics department. Maintains a
current CPO license and be attuned to all general aspects of pool
operations to ensure quality for all of the programs at the pools.
Serves as a representative of the YMCA on a variety of committees
as needed. Responsible for being a leader in the YMCAs Annual
Campaign. This includes but is not limited too: recruiting and
managing highly committed volunteers, leading teams for the annual
campaign at various levels and raising money. Serves as part of the
Leadership Engagment Team which includes working evenings and
weekends outside of regularly schedule time in Aquatics. Other
duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Cause-Driven

our impact. Required Certifications Must have American Red Cross
Lifeguard & CPR/AED and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer
Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training withn 30 days of hire
Valid NC Drivers License - Ability and means to travel on a
flexible schedule as needed with a driving record that meets YMCA
policies
