*Position summary:** *The Learning Design and Development
Technologist directs the establishment of principles, standards,
and practices for the advancement of innovative and creative
approaches to online and blended learning as such pedagogies
co-exist with the face-to-face learning experience. They actively
participate with and engage faculty and students to nurture
thriving partnerships within a learning environment whose service
excellence is grounded by its commitment to fostering a culture of
collaboration, creation, and innovation. This position is federally

The Learning Design and Development Technologist will be
instrumental in the formation of a consultative team strategy that
is central to the success of the grant initiative, which involves
advancing the College's learning technologies ecosystem toward a
sustainable future. The position will be continued as a permanent
appointment beyond the grant period, which ends effective 1 October
2025.*Position description: *The Learning Design and Development
Technologist promotes partnerships and collaborations among
students, faculty, and staff to further the blended library
organizational vision within an established academic commons
environment. They will provide leadership in planning and
implementing strategies for the advancement of all aspects of
teaching, learning, and research support within face-to-face,
blended, and online environments, generally supporting and
informing learning environment design. The Learning Design and
Development Technologist furthers campus-wide efforts for advancing
the learning technologies ecosystem through Hege's [Teaching,
Learning, and Research

and through the design and development of other classroom and
creation spaces supporting online and blended learning aligned with
the goals and objectives of the Title III grant. The Learning
Design and Development Technologist participates as a member of the
Hege Library and Learning Technologies Leadership team which
provides general oversight for the advancement of strategic
directions for a blended library and academic technologies service
unit. In particular, the Learning Design and Development
Technologist will work to realize the broader mission and vision of
the Library as Academic Commons and to further coordinated
development of responsive library and educational technology
services in support of teaching, learning, and research. They will
co-lead the Learning Design and Development team, along with the
Digital Pedagogy and Scholarship Librarian, and will serve as a
resource informing learning environment design.The individual in
this position performs the duties and responsibilities of this role
at all times in a fashion that supports the College's commitment to

providing an environment where students from all races,
ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, cultures and backgrounds
may succeed.*Responsibilities: * * Develops, promotes, and delivers
practical and responsive training and development services for
faculty and instructional staff in the effective use of learning
technologies tools, solutions, and techniques for advancing the
adoption of online and blended teaching and learning modalities.
Develops relationships with faculty and instructional staff,
providing leadership and responsive operational support to
incorporate educational technologies and new content delivery
methods into the curriculum. Supports the design and development of
a modern, multi-modal learning environment; will help bridge
faculty development needs related to the integration of blended and
online learning modalities. Helps to implement strategies to
optimize classroom and aligned learning spaces to further the
successful blending of computing, presentation, and creation
technologies supporting teaching and learning. * Supports the

to build partnerships with faculty across disciplines and develop
an instructional design consultancy model for advancing innovative
approaches to curriculum design and development that will emphasize
active and collaborative learning within both virtual and physical
learning environments. * With Digital Pedagogy Faculty Fellows,
identifies opportunities to team teach with faculty who hold their
classes in the Teaching, Learning, and Research Collaboratory and
who are particularly interested in exploring the full potential of
its learning technologies capabilities. * In partnership with
faculty, designs, develops, and delivers the [Guilford College
Online and Blended Teaching Certification

serves as the College's Quality Matters Coordinator. * Serves as a
standing member of the Academic Technology Advisory Committee
within the College's Technology Governance and Prioritization
structure. * Serves as an ex officio member of the Faculty
Development and Excellence in Teaching (FDET) Committee, and
partners with colleagues who provide leadership for faculty
development and research through the Center for Principled Problem
Solving and Excellence in Teaching (CPPSET) to ensure the
advancement of scholarship and enrichment programs that promote the
scholarship of teaching and learning and effective instructional
design practices, particularly as these further online and blended
learning. * Consults with the Director of Institutional Research
and Effectiveness for developing assessment strategies for learning
technologies and spaces and their effectiveness in advancing
active/collaborative learning within the context of academic
program priorities, especially as those further online and blended
learning. * Provides ongoing consultation with faculty about
technology integration into academics, including instructional
software and technological needs. * Maintains regular communication
with vendors and external service providers that provide the
College with learning technologies solutions and support. *
Provides guidance and pedagogical perspectives through partnership
with Information Technology Services (ITS) in the administration of
the Canvas learning management system (LMS). * Supports educational
development to ensure the continual improvement of the Canvas end
user experience. * Fosters effective communication and
collaboration between Library and Learning Technologies and ITS to
assess and plan for the ongoing management and provision of
seamless, responsive, reliable, and high-quality learning
technologies services and support. *Minimum Qualifications: * *
Master's degree with concentration in education, educational
technology, and/or other relevant fields. Three to five years of
experience in an educational technology setting blending in-person
and virtual learning; knowledge of current trends, developments and
significant innovations in student learning and faculty teaching
leveraging technology. Demonstrated success and increasing
leadership development and expertise in working with faculty and
providing learning technologies support in a higher education
setting. Extensive knowledge of learning technologies,
instructional and learning space design principles, and online and
blended learning modalities. An understanding of and demonstrated
expertise with virtual and blended learning, web, social media, and
mobile development and management tools including learning
management systems, digital collaboration and presentation tools,
video conferencing solutions, and web development platforms. Depth
of experience and demonstrated excellence in learning technologies
client services. Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
Ability to execute and deliver results. Demonstrated success in
relationship and partnership development among a diversity of
constituencies within an academic setting *Preferred
Qualifications:* * A second master's or doctoral degree
Demonstrated teaching excellence blending in-person and virtual
learning experiences Strong consultancy skills for fostering
change. Experience with project management processes and tools.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates who demonstrate a
commitment to recruiting, retaining, mentoring, and actively
engaging with underrepresented and underserved populations both on
campus and in the broader community. Preference will be given to
qualified candidates with experience developing and utilizing
information and technology resources and tools to promote
understanding of privilege and oppression among people.
