The ability to experiment and learn from experiments to create an optimized material and/process. Knowledge to develop unique characteristics, functional performance in existing and new products and materials through either of the following - fibers, polymers, chemical finishes & treatments, coatings, surface modifications etc. Support and develop all testing and analysis related to research and development activities and new product development projects. Should be able to run testing instruments related to fabric testing. Develop strategic partnerships with external vendors, technology providers and academia. Look outside the industry for materials, technologies that could be relevant for our applications. Develop strong understanding of downstream processes and collaborate with downstream value chain partners like mills, chemical and fiber companies, machinery companies etc. Strong skills in creating, developing, maintaining and regularly updating reports, capturing all relevant data and filing reports in the database.Key Responsibilities:

• Explore new technologies, landscaping and talking with suppliers, technology providers
• Testing, running trials, working with mills and other technical vendor partners - All Technical activities
• Interacting and working together with internal Design, Merchandise, QA, Product Stewardship, Procurement - brainstorming, problem solving, new ideas, presentations, product creation etc. Follow-ups with Kontoor Global teams in Asia in materials and product development constantly.
• Assist activities in Product Development and Sustainability activities and achieve the corporate sustainability goals.
• Document, SOP development and archiving data and records.Skills for Success:

  • NetworkingExperience/Education:
    • At least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing, R&D, Product Development in Textile and apparel Industry
    • BS/MS or PhD- Textile, Chemical, Material Engineering
