Job Description:
General Summary: The Interiors Systems R&D Technician
installs, maintains, and repairs and helps develop components,
systems, mockups and test fixtures for HACI business aircraft
interiors, under the direction and in collaboration with the
Interiors Engineering team. Duties and Responsibilities: Inspect,
test, adjust, and repair aircraft interior equipment systems, such
as seating, liners, lighting, cabin management, cabinetry, and
other systems. These may be installed in aircraft or mockups, or
stand-alone using hand tools and standard shop equipment.
Fabricates, repairs, updates and helps develop mockups, prototypes,
and product variants. Prepare and supports tests and evaluations of
prototype, mockup or supplier-provided interior components and
equipment. Troubleshoot, adjust, replace, or repair defective or
in-development components based on analysis of ergonomic/aesthetic
or other techncial evaluation results. This may involve following
technical schematics, handbooks, diagrams and other technical
documents. In some cases it may also include rapid R&D and part
fabrication/modification ---by eye--- without specific technical
info. Operate, calibrate, maintain and replace as needed the
R&D shop tools, equipment, storage areas, and other physical
resources. Recommend process and resource improvements. Provide
support to Sales and marketing organization for customer and
marketing related activites related to Interior systems
demonstration for mockups and development cabin systems, both in
the HACI facility and potentially at exterior shows and events.
Maintain, organize and keep clean the Interiors R&D shop, all
mockups tools and equipment, and the spaces around. For all of the
above, work under the guidance and direction, and in close
collaboration with the Interiors Engineering team. Coordinate with
other Technicians within the R&D Organization for support as
needed for certain projects that are large in scope or require
specific expertise or equipment and support from outside the
Interiors organization. Coordinate with HACI Safety teams for
regular shop reviews and to ensure awareness and compliance with
HACI safety directives and procedures. Education, Work Experience,
Certification and/or Licensure: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience with flight operation support required. Experience with
aircraft wiring, repair or wiring modification required. A&P
license an asset. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong oral and
written communication skills. Ability to understand wiring
drawings. Strong skills in avionics and airframe and power plant
technical support including installation, repair, and fabrication
support. Ability to skillfully operate fabrication equipment
including, but not limited to, various types of saws, drills, nc
machines, sewing machines, and other interior mock-up related
equipment. Strong interpersonal skills and judgment in mechanical
repair and fabrication situations and in addressing engineers and
their design and modification needs. Strong knowledge of glass
cockpit avionics systems; troubleshooting; ringing out; wiring
diagrams; wiring needs; and wiring practices, mods, and
terminations. Ability to interface with internal engineering
support and outside suppliers and vendors and project a good
professional image. Must have good prioritizing skills and strong
team skills. Must be willing to travel as needed and be able to be
flexible and to change direction rapidly as situations change.
Flexibility to various schedules and overtime. Physical
Requirements: Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment
operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts,
or fuel odors. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat,
walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged
time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties. Work
in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory
requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations,
etc.). Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required
by job duties. Comprehend and adhere to management directions
and/or safety instructions with no restrictions. Effectively
communicate in Business English language. Pull, push, carry, lift,
or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without
assistance, as required by job duties. Pull, push, carry, lift or
move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more
during the work shift, with the use of Company provided ---reach
assistance technology--- or ---movement assist technology---
(fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly---s, robotics reach
equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties. Ability
to work tight space, high place and outside environment. The above
