Compliance Team Lead - Employee Benefits

Job Description:

Manage and oversee the delivery of administrative and compliance services for employer clients who sponsor group health and welfare associate benefit plans subject to the requirements of ERISA and other applicable federal state and local regulations. Supervise and train staff and allocate resources towards the timely and quality completion of client assignments. The following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other Duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Manage and oversee the delivery of administrative and compliance services for employer clients who sponsor group health and welfare associate benefit plans subject to the requirements of ERISA and other applicable federal state and local regulations. 2. Provide leadership for ERISA Administrative and Compliance Analysts for the timely and quality completion of client assignments. 3. Provide leadership to associates on utilization of department systems and procedures to ensure efficient and accurate completion of client assignments. 4. Complete Wrap documents, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), Amendments, and Summaries of Material Modification for welfare benefit plans and communicate delivery to clients. 5. Provide participant communication materials for group health plan sponsors required by ERISA and other applicable regulations. 6. Perform group medical benefit plan discrimination testing in accordance with ERISA section 105(h) or other similar requirements. Communicate results to clients and strategize on potential plan design solutions. 7. Assist clients in the preparation and filing of government filings including Form 5500 with applicable schedules and Summary Annual Reports. 8. Draft plan documents and SPD's for group medical benefit plans. 9. Draft plan documents for Premium-Only Plans and be available to answer client questions on discrimination testing. 10. Provide audit support to clients with respect to health and welfare benefit plans. 11. Create and maintain department marketing material with respect to ERISA Administrative and Compliance services. 12. Participate on education calls, webinars, and seminars for clients and internal business partners. 13. Research and stay abreast of current events, legislations and emerging regulations with respect to group health and welfare benefit plans. 14. Create client education and communication materials such as newsletters. 15. Communicate and reinforce department practices and procedures. 16. Address any personnel issues which may arise with team members including leave time, resignation, hiring and promotions. 17. Prepare Performance Development Plans (PDPs) for team members and give recommendations for salary review. 18. Encourage development and enhancement to department procedures to improve operations efficiencies. 19. Provide peer review of client deliverables completed by associates. Required Skills and Competencies: 1. Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, legal or other analytical field or equivalent education and related training 2. Three years of experience in ERISA Welfare Benefits Administration, legal or compliance services 3. Analytical oriented with strong logic skills 4. Strong communication and organizational skills 5. Ability to multi-task 6. Supervisory experience 7. Ability to work independently or on a team 8. Demonstrated proficiency of basic computer skills, such as Microsoft applications 9. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight Desired Skills: 1.
