Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Winston Salem, NC Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,930 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/9/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pulmonary Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (06:45 - 19:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years required. Unit will accept first-time travelers. License: NC or Compact license required by start date. Certifications: ACLS, BLS required. NIHSS preferred. Must-Have: - IV start - Ventilator management - Telemetry and CPAP/BiPAP management - Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and is not permitted to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a cancellation and DNR. Target ratios are 1:4-5 on a mixed acuity unit with PCU and medical/surgical telemetry patients. In extreme situations, the unit may go to a 1:6 ratio. The unit accepts 13-week assignments with 36 hours guaranteed. Weekend requirements include 4 weekend shifts in 6 weeks, but staffing needs may require more. Patient population includes COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, and flu. The unit currently cares for COVID-19 patients who have tested positive. This unit has a higher acuity than a typical medical-surgical unit. It operates with a team lead present and additional support staff including respiratory therapists. The unit includes ventilators for chronic tracheostomy and ventilated patients only. No nurse will care for more than one ventilator patient at a time. The unit consists of 48 beds in total. CNA to patient ratios range from 9-10:1. Patient diagnoses include COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, and chest tubes. The unit has readily available resources including an admission/discharge nurse, an assistant nurse manager, and a vascular access team. Special equipment utilized includes chest tubes, dopamine, Cardizem, Heparin, ventilators, tracheostomies, and CPAP/BiPAP machines. Unit systems include Pyxis and electronic health record systems. Travelers must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty. Candidates must adhere to call-off policies which are strictly enforced. This position requires a teamwork approach and adherence to behavioral expectations. Candidates may float within the facility or to a nearby affiliate based on skill sets and census. Fatigue policy prohibits working more than 5 consecutive days or over 60 hours per week. Redacted submission and compliance processes have been applied to this description.
