a travel nursing job in Greensboro, North Carolina. Job Description

3x12-hour shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) - Weekends/Holidays: Rotating
weekends and holidays - Call: Required on Sunday nights only

Overview The Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient
care to individuals requiring hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, or
apheresis treatments in an acute hospital setting. The RN ensures
safe and effective treatment delivery, accurate documentation, and
comprehensive patient monitoring while collaborating with an
interdisciplinary team to provide optimal care. Key
Responsibilities: - Initiate, monitor, and terminate dialysis
treatments using Tablo Dialysis Machines. - Cannulate AV fistulas
and grafts; manage tunneled/non-tunneled catheters. - Monitor and
document hemodynamic status, blood flow rates, and ultrafiltration
calculations. - Perform and interpret dialysis-related tests (e.g.,
dialysate conductivity, ACT, venous/arterial pressures). -
Administer blood products, Mannitol, Albumin, and hypertonic saline
as indicated. - Respond promptly to dialysis complications such as
hypotension, clotted access, disequilibrium syndrome, and
hemolysis. - Provide bedside hemodialysis treatments for ICU or
unstable patients. - Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and
ancillary staff to ensure patient safety and treatment accuracy. -
Maintain infection control practices and adhere to facility and
regulatory standards. Patient Population - Patients with end-stage
renal disease, acute kidney injury, metabolic imbalances, dialysis
access issues, and drug overdoses requiring renal replacement
therapy. - Includes patients with neurologic, renal, and
hematologic/oncologic diseases requiring apheresis. - Acutely ill
adults and geriatric patients from various medical-surgical and
critical care units. Unit Details - 9 hemodialysis bays 1 isolation
room for Hepatitis B patients. - Equipped with telemetry monitoring
and central cardiac monitoring station. - Average daily census: ~20
dialysis orders. - Average patient stay: 4–5 hours per treatment. -
Supported by certified hemodialysis technicians, unit secretary,
and interdisciplinary services (PT, RT, Pharmacy, Radiology, Social
Services, RRT). Special Equipment: - Tablo Dialysis Devices -
Baxter Amia PD Devices - Spectra Optia Apheresis Devices
Qualifications Required: - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license –
North Carolina or compact state. - BLS certification (American
Heart Association). - Minimum 2 years of dialysis nursing
experience. - Proficiency with Epic EMR. Preferred: - ACLS
certification. - Experience with trauma (Level I or II), community,
or teaching hospitals. - Charge experience. - Apheresis and
peritoneal dialysis exposure. Patient Ratios -
Days/Nights/Weekends: 1:3 - Average Daily Census: ~20 dialysis
