Our doctors and clinical staff really get to know our patients and their families which helps provide a true continuity of care from infancy to adolescence.Position SummaryThe Medical Assistant works interdependently with other medical professionals to provide quality health care to the patient. This position is responsible for providing professional care to clinic patients under supervision of physician and clinical manager. Essential Functions

  • Follows physician orders on medication and treatment

  • Understands and follows all policies and procedures established by OSHA, CLIA and Carolina Pediatrics of the Triad, PA
  • Demonstrates appropriate behaviors and demeanor that shows professionalism.
  • Works with RN clinical manager, Practice administrator to maintain governmental requirements for the EHR as needed
  • Maintains emotional control and diplomacy at all times Qualifications
    • Medical Assistant degree required
      • Current AAMA certification required
      • High school graduate or equivalent requiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
        • Knowledge of healthcare field and medical specialty
        • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality
        • Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records
        • Knowledge of electronic medical record system and laboratory information system
        • Knowledge of vaccine storage, handling, and vaccine recovery plan
        • Knowledge of procedures for down time of electronic medical record or laboratory information system
        • Knowledge of emergency protocols
        • Knowledge of all laboratory policies and procedures
        • Knowledge of all clinical policies and procedures
        • Knowledge of proper procedures, techniques, and uses of all lab equipment
        • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and family
        • Knowledge in current immunization protocols
        • Knowledge in all requirements of documentation for EHR compliance
        • Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace, and confidentiality methods
        • Skill in administering of all medications and treatments
        • Skill in administering CPR adult/child
        • Skill in collection and proper techniques of all specimens
        • Skill in preparing child for well/sick visits with appropriate measurements and plotting, screenings, vitals, and specimen collections
        • Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data
        • Perform competently in all areas assigned
        • Skill in operating office equipment
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
        • Comply with the office policies and procedures
        • Comply with all policies and procedures concerning OSHA and COVID 19
        • Verbal ability to speak clearly and concisely
        • Ability to read, understands, and follows oral and written knowledge. Including knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation to process patient information
        • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems
        • Ability to communicate effectively using oral and written communication
        • Ability to handle multiple tasks
        • Ability to handle stressful situations that can occur in a patient care environment
        • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians, and the public
        • Ability to adapt to emergency situations and apply guidelines and procedures
        • Ability to apply policies and principles to solve everyday problems and deal with a variety of situations
        • Ability to inform physicians of acute patient situations
        • Ability to collect data of patients with acute illness and convey that data to physiciansWorking ConditionsRequires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Wearing of PPE as routine and pandemic dictate. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand conditions. Physical/Mental DemandsCombination of office, exam, and other clinical settings. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Includes evening or weekend work.
