Job Description:
Overview:The Registered Nurse (RN) will utilize the nursing
process to independently deliver nursing care to patients in order
to achieve quality outcomes and communicates need for
guidance/supervision based on self-assessment of strengths and
limitations. The RN assesses, plans, implements, documents,
organizes, prioritize, delegates, supervises, and coordinates the
care of patients as prescribed within the parameters of the NC
Nurse Practice Act and hospital complex. System Wide Float RNs are
required to float to all Healthcare System Acute Care Facilities
and scheduled in departments in which they have competencies. They
can also be placed in a department other than their competency
level with a modified assignment. Assignments to a specific
department can be in the form of a contract (from 1-12 weeks
duration) or on a shift by shift basis. The assigned work location
will be based on patient care need and clinical competency. The
goal of this position is to maximize the utilization of staff
resources in order to promote optimal patient care. The job
requires the employee to support patient care needs at every
hospital campus. Employee must have transportation to travel to,
from, and between these work locations.Talent Pool:

adjustments in the plan of care based on evaluation of theplan and
effectiveness of nursing interventions. Documents and updates the
plan of care, nursing care, nursinginterventions and patient
response to care, and keeps healthcare team, patients and
significant other informed.Contributes to the discharge plan by
identifying homecare needs. Recognizes changes in patients'
conditions and revisesthe plan of care appropriately. Demonstrates
advanced competencies and critical thinking skills in day to day
practice.Identifies and implements educational needs for
patients/significant

improvement. Demonstrates knowledge of SharedGovernance
accountabilities and principles, supports DSGC directly as a
council member or indirectly by keeping informedof council

containing policies, procedures, standards, and additional
resources. Participates in QI/Research activities based on role and
major work activities as outlined in the research point system
guidelines.Demonstrates knowledge of department QI plan.
Demonstrates understanding of resource management and
implementsopportunities. Collects QI data and participates in
analysis and action plan development, incorporates changes
intopractice. Facilitates ongoing activities to meet and adhere to
regulatory standards (TJC, DFS,
OSHA).Qualifications:Education:Required: Associate Degree of
Nursing from and Accredited Institution of Learning is required.
BSN required or with approval of the hiring manager, experienced
RN's with an AD or Diploma with an active plan to obtain their BSN
within four years from date of hire may be considered. Failure to
obtain a BSN within 4 years of hire will result in separation of
employment. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from and
Accredited Institution of Learning is highly preferred on hire.
Experience:Required: Minimum of at least 2 years of clinical
practice as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility (not
including orientation) with 2 years in a clinical specialty as
defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations. Licensure /
Certification / Registry / Listing:RN - Registered Nurse licensed
in North Carolina or a Compact state.BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross
or AHA Healthcare Provider*ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life
Support - REQUIRED for Critical Care/ICU/ED RNs Must hold a Nursing
Specialty Certification or be on track to hold a certification
within 18 months from date of hire. Valid Driver's License - Valid
Driver's License Preferred: ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life
Support - PREFERRED for MED/Surg/Telemetry/Progressive Care RNs
