is looking for a Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)
to plan, implement, and direct EHS strategies, risk management,
policies, programs, and processes to position divisions of Weisiger
Group, Carolina Cat and LiftOne, as industry leaders in health,
environmental, and safety. This leadership position demands a
strategic approach to drive a culture of care, continuous
improvement, injury and vehicular incident reduction, regulatory
compliance, and development across all levels of a high-growth
organization.Essential FunctionsLeadership & Collaboration:
- Develop strong working relationships with divisional
leadership, supervisors, and front line teammates, resulting in
open dialogue, mutual understanding, and trust.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations,
facilities and human resources, to integrate EHS practices into
daily operations.
- Regularly engage with field service teams and drivers to
understand real-world challenges and ensure practical application
of safety protocols.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, development, focus, and clear
goals to the EHS team.
- Develop and communicate a clear EHS vision and strategy with
quick-wins and long-term goals.
- Align initiatives with root cause analysis and areas of highest
impact.
- Inspire commitment and ownership of EHS value at every
level.
- Foster a proactive safety culture that emphasizes risk
reduction, employee engagement, and accountability.
- Oversee environmental initiatives, such as waste management,
pollution prevention, and sustainability efforts.
- Champion Safety as a core value and integral part of daily
operations.
- Inspire or motivate a change in behavior or process.
- Act as a creative problem-solver willing to listen, adapt and
lead teams through complicated situations.
- Develop and lead emergency response procedures, ensuring that
employees are well-prepared to respond effectively to
emergencies.
- Promote a proactive approach to identifying and addressing
safety challenges.
- Collaborate with field-based Safety Trainers and Program
Specialists to turn insights into strategy and measurement.Data
Analytics:
- Monitor and report on safety performance, trends, initiatives,
and incidents to senior leadership and the Board.
- Effectively leverage data to provide root cause identification
and to prioritize actions that prevent injuries, accidents, and
unsafe conditions/behaviors.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret data related to occupational
accidents and illnesses. Report figures on a monthly basis to
employees and management.
- Provide leadership on the latest safety tools, software, and
automation technologies.Compliance, Regulatory Oversight & Risk
Management:
- Oversee safety, environmental, and driver compliance, including
compliance with OSHA, EPA, MSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and other relevant
agencies.
- Act as liaison to regulatory agencies and other governmental or
public entities.
- Lead investigations of significant recordable and near-miss
accidents, injuries, and/or occupational diseases to determine root
causes and preventive measures. Report findings to senior
leadership team and division management in written format.
- Advise management and employees of non-compliance.
- Oversee injury case management.
- Assist with environmental remediation, if any, in a
cost-effective and timely manner.
- Develop and refine safety, health, fleet, and environmental
policies and procedures.
- Oversee driver qualification files, DOT logs, and
hours-of-service records.
- Manage workers compensation claims and return to work
programs.
- Assist Fleet Director with safety issues and inspections
related to service vehicles.Other:
- Flexibly support cross-functional initiatives as needed.

- Proficient in use of various computer applications such as
Excel, MS Word and various other database derived

- Knowledge of US federal and state regulations pertaining to
occupational safety and health and the environment.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative in all aspects of EHS
management.
- Ability to initiate action with all levels including, without
limitation, various divisional leaders, facility managers,
continuous improvement team, regulatory agency staff members, and,
as necessary, implement emergency response procedures.
- Strong managerial, communication and interpersonal relationship
skills with the ability to work with various functional
groups.Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Science, engineering or related field.
Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) is preferred.
- Minimum of at least 15-years experience in the field of
EHS.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Chemicals Safety
Management (CSM), OSHA Certified Instructor, Certified Hazardous
Materials Manager (CHHM), Certified Environmental Manager (CEM),
and/or Associate Safety Professionals (ASP) preferred.
- Requires excellent communications skills, both verbal and
written.
- Minimum 5 years safety management experience in a mechanical
service, industrial, or manufacturing type environment.
- Research and analysis skills of existing and potential safety
technologies for continuous improvement.
- Experience with leading and implementing behavior based safety
programs.
- Proven managerial/leadership skills such as work planning,
delegating and evaluating.
- Proven mentoring and coaching abilities; demonstrated ability
to motivate and inspire others.
- Knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations as related to 29 CFR
1910 or 1926. Knowledge of MSHA 30 CFR a plus, but not
required.
- Ability and knowledge to investigate industrial accidents and
injuries and to determine the root cause and prevention
measures.
- Ability to exercise mature judgment and suggest the appropriate
action when working with employees, management, or customers.
- Capable of developing a sense of trust among team members at
all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated collaboration, negotiation, conflict resolution,
and interpersonal skills.
- Able to analyze complicated EHS issues and summarize concisely
for non-EHS employees.
- Able to develop action plans and bring to a successful
conclusion corrective action.
- Must act in a way that never compromises ethics, integrity, or
safety.
- Knowledge of workers compensation laws and regulations and
return to duty programs.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and
