Children's Home Society of North Carolina (CHS) is launching a new division of the organization. We are hiring a Strategy Director and are open to candidates outside of North Carolina.The Institute for Family believes that supported, thriving families are the foundation for healthy children and strong communities. We are building a platform to inspire professionals and families to imagine and create a family well-being system. We tell real, authentic stories that inspire audiences to act on behalf of families. We produce multi-media content to educate families, advocate for policy and practice transformation, and celebrate the power of family. Our goal is to elevate family well-being as a priority and dramatically reduce our country's over-reliance on foster care.We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive, and creative Strategy Director who will beresponsible for providing vision, leadership, and execution of ideas that will establish strategic partnerships, advance our parent education and advocacy goals, and support the financial sustainability of the Institute.We are looking for someone with heart who wants to use their skills and experiences to help us achieve our goals so that allfamilies can thrive.The ideal candidate has a track record of success in governmental affairs, public policy, partnership and coalition building, and/or business development. This individual is strong in working with a diverse group of stakeholders, building relationships, finding common ground, and moving from ideas to action. This individual is experienced in articulating a set of goals, a corresponding strategy, and then developing tactics to advance the strategy. Ideally, this person will have experience in developing and offering products and/or services that generate revenue and support organizational sustainability.The Strategy Directorwill bring new thoughts and concepts to the table, ensuring the organization is staying ahead of current trends. This individual will work closely with the rest of the Institute for Family team and collaborate across functions to achieve organizational goals. This individual will work closely with the Director of the Institute for Family to accomplish the responsibilities outlined below.Areas of Responsibility

  • Work with the team to develop and lead a strategy to elevate family well-being as a priority, expand the reach of the Institute's parent education content, and advocate for policy and practice transformation that impacts the reduction of the number of children in foster care
  • Support the distribution of parent education content and all other multi-media content
  • Develop and execute tactics that are connected to the strategy and advance its goals and objectives
  • Develop specific timelines, budget, and allocate resources that will advance the organization's goals and strategy
  • Work independently to identify tasks and develop systems and processes for completing work, and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders where support is needed
  • Source and manage external contractors to support the creation and execution of strategies and tactics to achieve organizational goals
  • Identify key strategic partners, develop and cultivate those relationships, and develop and execute opportunities that advance organizational goals and add value to partners
  • Use Salesforce to track and monitor progress with all strategic partners
  • Work with the Director of Institute for Family to establish quarterly and annual goals that are tied to the organizational strategy
  • Create reports that track progress towards goalsPreferred Skills

    • Ability to demonstrate a passion and skill for networking, building coalitions, and adding value to external stakeholders
    • Ability to successfully lead advocacy campaigns, public policy work, and/or business development activities
    • Strong writing skills, with a focus on technical writing, policy briefs, and position statements
    • Self-starter with strong work ethic, able to lead and work independently
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
    • Ability to establish timelines and prioritize deadlines
    • Strong and active interest in learning new skills
    • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills and ability to establish rapport with internal and external stakeholders
    • Strong verbal communication skills
    • Must display sensitivity to the service population
    • Ability to be flexible and participate in an array of activities
    • Ability to travel, both in state and out of state, and work on evenings and weekends as projects requireQualifications
      • Masters degree or higher in a related discipline
      • 8+ years' experience in child welfare, public policy, and/or business development field
      • Preferrable that this individual has advanced knowledge of child and family practice, policy, and funding landscape
      • Maintain a valid driver's license, adequate auto insurance, and have access to an operating vehicle in order to attend to CHS business
