Purpose of Position * Provide technical support to Customer Defect Tracking & Resolution (CDT & R), Value Analysis Value Engineering (VAVE) and product enhancements as part of the Global Engineering team. * The Mechanical Engineer - CPE is responsible for problem solving activities, communicating to internal and external stakeholders, and continuously improving processes to enhance the quality and cost position of Gilbarco products. Key Responsibilities * Completes design projects assigned by the Engineering Manager. * Creates 3D models, detail drawings, part numbers, BOMs, strength analyses, test plans, etc. * Provide technical support for special application projects. * Perform sustaining engineering activities, supporting the production of Gilbarco Global operations, including Greensboro (USA) and Coimbatore (India) facilities. * Follow project time lines and specifications to guarantee project is delivered as per safety/quality requirements and within budget in a timely manner. * Ensure that company products meet or exceed market and International standards of performance, safety and quality. * Support Gilbarco's strategy, key company initiatives and associated KPIs. * Participate in continuous improvement initiatives - based on FBS methodology and tools - across engineering activities to reach Operational Excellence. Relationships * Cross-functional teams include mechanical, hydraulics, electronic, and software designers, lab technicians, outside development partners, program management, production, field support, reliability and system quality assurance lab personnel, customers and end users. Measures of Performance * Ability to lead technical programs in a multi-tasking environment. * Ability to set and meet or exceed performance targets (Sustaining, CDT & R, and VAVE). * Ability to foster and nurture productive working relationships across the organization (trust and respect) * Highly effective written/oral communications skills. Requirements * BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering * 2 + years' experience with design of mechanical systems * Working experience in fluid dynamics and hydraulics will be a plus * Able to work in a multi-cultural environment * Good communication skills - for internal and external Customers * Proficient in the use of 3D computer aided design (Creo preferred). * Working knowledge of PTC's Windchill. * Proficient with MS office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
