We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a(n) Eastern Region Field Engineer to help support our Home Furniture Components business. In our Furniture Components business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in the contract and home furniture industries. From functional engineered recliner/ motion hardware, sleeper systems, and seating products, our Furniture Components business brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality products. As a(n)Eastern Region Field Service Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be the engineering liaison between our manufacturing plants, sales team and customers. You will provide support and communication to customers that utilize Leggett & Platt motion hardware, seating components and sleeper mechanisms.
So, what will you be doing as a(n) Eastern Region Field Service Engineer?



  • Assist Regional Sales staff in technical sales efforts and presentations to current and prospective customers.


  • Provide analysis to customers to improve productivity and performance within manufacturing facilities


  • Work with quality control, engineering, and production scheduling teams at multiple production locations to ensure quality standards and delivery timelines are met


  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, making recommendations to management and R&D


  • Interact and resolve "end consumer" questions and issues from time to time


  • Relationship building with R&D and Product development at all motion/ recliner accounts.


    To be successful in this role, you'll need:


    • Furniture Technology or engineering degree preferred.


    • 5 years outside furniture engineering or R&D experience preferred


    • Good knowledge of furniture industry strongly preferred


    • Good Knowledge of motion recliner hardware/ Motion R&D experience.


    • Minimal overnight travel/ daily regional travel required


    • Ability to navigate ambiguity to optimally organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines


    • Strong communication and decision-making skills


    • Excellent analytical skills


    • Creative problem-solving skills


    • Ability to multitask and manage multiple engineering recliner/ motion projects


    • Excellent customer service


    • Ability to work well in teams


      Things we consider a plus:


      • Preferably based in Western North Carolina


      • Experience in furniture frame building; motion furniture experience preferred
