Job Description:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working with customers
and cross functional departments, the Project Engineer is
responsible for the coordination, project management and customer
interface for current and future production and development of
SpecMetrix systems to ensure on-time delivery and high customer
satisfaction.The Project Engineer will help gather and prioritize
inputs from customers, sales support team and company management to
support new product and new feature developments, provide milestone
timelines, drawing packages and technical inputs to sales and
customer support related technical inquiries, and to help support
production with Bill of Materials (BOM) completion and to manage
internal technical requests to a timely completion.The Project
Engineer is also involved with new product design and development
teams, analysis of design feasibility, providing documentation
inputs, drawing updates and meeting directly with customers on new
designs, applications or plant visits.Essential Functions:
- Assist in new product development processes in conjunction with
sales, service and engineering teams
- Support, document and help manage hardware, automation, and
integration projects
- Help finalize technical specifications and quotation templates
for current and new company products
- Analyze and help to prioritize internal team and
customer-requested engineering modifications
- Regularly update company team members and customers on project
status and completion dates
- Create selected drawings, 3D and 2D models for customer use and
selected presentations
- Create and expand modern CAD Library of existing and new
products using Solidworks, ensuring compliance with industry
standards and best practices
- Review and approve designs and technical data of team members,
ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices
- Create accurate and complete drawing packages for outsourced
products to provide suppliers
- Provide drafting, quality assurance and support assistance to
other internal teams
- Provide positive guidance and support to the production team as
needed
- Assist production and sales team at selected customer
demonstrations or engineering meetings
- Discuss technical information and installation options with
customers as requested by engineering, sales, quality or technical
services team management
- Participate in the on-call rotation for customer and integrator
support
- Contribute to and maintain an ongoing engineering priorities
database with accurate completion dates
- Complies with all company policies and procedures, including
FOD, 5S, and safety requirements
- Other duties as assignedCompetencies:
- Ability to manage assigned projects from sales team hand-over
through to commissioning, a "cradle to grave" approach
- Ability to use basic precision measuring equipment, e.g., dial
calipers, voltage meters, etc.
- Very good organizational skills to ensure accuracy, neatness
and project completeness
- Very good communication skills and willingness to contribute as
a team member
- Ability to work independently and efficiently within production
deadlines and time standards to meet production deadlines

and communicate estimates, project schedules, reports,
presentations and documents

models

- Ability to stay focused and meet deadlines, which may require
working extended hours
- Attention to detail and excellent follow-up communication
skills
- Proficiency with commonly used applications: Microsoft Office,
CAD (SolidWorks), PDM, ERP, PLC, MS Project, Smartsheet, etc.
- Ability to work well in a team and with cross-functional team
members

responsibilitiesRequired Education, Certification, and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline
(Mechanical, Electrical, Etc.) AND
- Minimum of 2 years of project engineering experiencePreferred
Education, Certification, and Experience:
- 2 years of experience working within an electrical or
mechanical engineering group
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Experience with quality systems such as ISO 9000, TS16949,
IATF16949, VDA, etc.
- Knowledge of basic regulatory, OSHA and Environmental, Safety &
Health (EHS) requirements
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, Design for
Manufacturing & Assembly methodsPhysical Demands:
- May require lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying up to fifty
(50) pounds
- Standing up to eight (8) hours per day, or a combination of
sitting and standing
- Ability to hear and see, with or without the assistance of a
device
- Ability to read intricate, small, and detailed writing with or
without the use of corrective lenses
- Ability to support onsite customer and vendor visits
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time and sometimes at short
noticeWork Authorization:
