model. JOB GOAL The goal of a Science teaching role is to support
effective Science instruction in their respective classrooms and in
developing a collaborative department, successful for all students.
Our Science teachers work relentlessly with their teammates to
ensure that all of their students not only are able to master the
discipline-specific topics set forth in the North Carolina Science
standards (NSCOS) but realize life-long success in STEM fields.
RTHS sees success in Science coursework as the gateway to STEM
fields in both college and career. This goal is only possible
through the support of excellent instruction with a collaborative
instructional team deploying next generation instructional and data
analysis techniques. Objective success in this role should see the
maximum number of students possible demonstrating proficiency on
end of year state tests, college readiness exams, growth
assessments, and related science assessments. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING

career, and become lifelong learners. As a Science teacher, you are
helping Lead the Future of STEM Education . POSITION
RESPONSIBILITIES As a Teacher you’ll teach a course load of Science
topics that will include the following activities: Excellent
Instruction: You lead excellent Science instruction in your
classrooms that drives student mastery of Science topics. Through
your instructional experience you lean into the school’s
instructional model including the efficient use of technology,
didactic instruction, laboratory studies, collaborative learning,
project learning, and at-home learning. Student and Family
Community: You develop a strong learning community within your
classroom and with families by establishing yourself as the leader
of your classroom. This includes strong classroom management,
building connections with students, and supporting their personal
development. You will also support the school in its regular parent
engagement activities, helping parents understand their student’s
academic achievement, possibilities for at-home learning, and
appropriate social emotional development. Curricular Planning and
Design: You work with the academic team to implement a rigorous
curriculum through unit plans and lessons that meet the needs of
all students with clear, standard aligned objectives and
appropriate assessments to gauge student comprehension.
Professional Learning Activities: You receive bi-weekly feedback
through coaching meetings meant to help you internalize content,
practice teaching moves, grow classroom management, and other
teaching techniques to improve your practice. Data-Driven Culture:
You participate in a data-driven culture among your fellow
teachers, grade-level Science teammates, and the Science department
as a whole to analyze and respond to student achievement data. You
regularly use assessments from your curriculum, provided by the
academic team, or made by yourself. Engage in Collaboration: You
participate in a collaborative learning environment with other
Science team members to co–plan, examine grade-level articulation,
conduct student work analysis, enable peer feedback, and customize
just-in-time Professional Development. You participate in
schoolwide disciplinary literacy and writing techniques shared from
ELA coursework and with teachers in other subject areas. You
support the school’s strategic initiatives whether they apply to
your grade-level, department, or whole-school focus. QUALIFICATIONS
Our Science teachers are passionate about developing life-long
scientists. They love student learners, want to foster a
collaborative team, and seek to advance the instructional goals of
the school while also growing their own instructional expertise.
Experience: 2 Years of teaching experience preferred Previous
experience with Literacy instruction Experience using technology to
drive instruction A deep knowledge of Science curriculum and
assessment, North Carolina experience preferred Knowledge of the
NAME OF NORTH CAROLINA EVALUATION TOOL and NAME OF BEGINNER
TEACHING PROGRAM Education: Bachelor's degree is required Other
Qualifications or Characteristics: Belief in the mission of
Research Triangle High School Investment in innovative teaching
techniques, including personalized learning Evidence of
self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
