By March 2024, it achieved full national coverage with partnerships or newsrooms in all 50 states.The OpportunityThe CFO will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, shaping financial strategy and ensuring sustainability. Reporting to the CEO, overseeing a budget of over $30 million, and serving as the primary fiscal agent, this role involves collaboration across the organization to advance States Newsroom's mission.The successful candidate will have expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, fostering transparency and operational excellence. The CFO will oversee two direct reports-the Finance Manager and Operations Manager-and coordinate with external accounting firms and state-level newsroom leaders.Location, Compensation, and BenefitsOffices are in Washington D.C. and Chapel Hill, NC. The role is open to hybrid candidates in these regions and remote candidates across the US, with quarterly travel required for remote staff.Salary ranges from $150,000 to $160,000, based on experience and skills.
