Description:
The Senior Credit Underwriter analyzes credit and financial reports
as well as industry and market condition data to determine risk
involved in loaning money or extending credit. Specifically, the
Senior Credit Underwriter will review balance sheet strength,
income and profitability trends, cash flow and debt service
coverage, management quality, and market conditions to determine if
loans will be sound and in compliance with Bank credit policy. The
Senior Credit Underwriter will also provide staff support for the
Relationship Managers in serving the bank's loan customers thus
interfaces regularly with Management and Relationship Managers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Review and spread business and personal
financial information including leases and rent rolls received to
provide detail for historical comparison and analysis. 2. Document
cash flows for operating business entities, real estate holding
companies and individuals, as well as an overall global cash flow
for loan analysis and loan approval. 3. Produce projections,
pro-forma statements and sensitivity analysis as appropriate. 4.
Identify and document exceptions to the Bank credit policy as well
as pertinent mitigating factors. 5. Prepare written and verbal
presentations of financial information including detailed formal
credit analysis with recommendations for loan approval or denial.
The Senior Credit Underwriter will at times present loans to Credit
Officers and or Credit Committee for approval. 6. Conduct Annual
Reviews of existing relationships and Annual Loan Covenant
Compliance with consideration of Risk Rating accuracy. The Senior
Credit Officer may also assist the Relationship Manager and Credit
Administration on Past-Due loans, Watchlist credits and loan
workouts. 7. Conduct a yearly formal analysis of all major Bank
vendors with a detailed description of that company and any areas
which may affect the vendors' performance and reliability as
related to the Bank. 8. Work closely with the Credit Underwriting
Supervisor and Regional Credit Officers to maintain an acceptable
turn-around time on all loan requests to sustain our reputation as
a service-oriented and personable community bank. 9. Act as a
training resource for Relationship Managers and Junior Credit
Underwriters related to understanding and interpreting financial
statements and tax returns and upon request review the cash flow
preparations and analysis of Relationship Managers and Junior
Credit Analysts for correctness and completeness. Also reinforce
the Bank's commitment to sustaining high credit quality and strong
credit culture. 10. Assist in the portfolio review of possible bank
acquisitions by American National Bank. 11. Prepare and present for
approval ACH Requests as instructed by Treasury Management
Services. 12. Participate in continuing education courses to stay
abreast of new banking regulations. 13. Maintain thorough knowledge
of Bank's credit policy and other Bank policies and procedures. 14.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of all American National Bank
products, services, procedures, policies and appropriate regulatory
issues relating to daily job functions including but not limited
to: Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy; Fair Lending; Regulation E; deposit,
transaction and loan accounts.
Requirements:
1. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. 2.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment where required to
prioritize and deal effectively with varying workloads and meet
deadlines. Time management is critical. 3. Proven experience
working independently with assertive decision-making for loan
recommendations. 4. Exceptional communication skills required, both
verbal and written, including courteous and professional
interaction, establishing trust and maintaining productive
relationships with customers, peers, relationship managers and bank
management. 5. Quickly grasps Bank analysis software and retains
information. 6. Experience with CoStar and IBISWorld or similar
platforms preferred. 7. Proficient with Microsoft Office Products -
Word, Excel and Outlook. 8. Limited travel required. EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE 1. Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business or finance
preferred. 2. 5 years in Commercial Banking required (e.g., Credit
Administration, Commercial Credit Underwriting, Portfolio
Management, or Commercial Lending). The above statements are
